Virginia Grace Murray

Virginia G. Murray of Ossining, NY, formerly a 30-year resident of Briarcliff Manor, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021 at the age of 87.  Virginia was born on June 27, 1933 in the Bronx, NY to the late Donald and Irene Ahern.

Virginia was married to Dr. Robert W. Murray on November 17, 1956.  They started their family in the Bronx and had six children together within nine years.  Following the completion of Bob’s medical training and subsequent service as a Naval surgeon, they settled in Briarcliff Manor in 1967 where Virginia focused on her children and established lifelong friendships.

She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.  She was always willing to give of herself and to help others.  Virginia loved life and was a people person.  Her motto was “Live, Love, and Laugh” and she truly lived by that motto.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Bob in 1997 and her two beloved sons: Matthew in 1989 and Christopher in 2012.

Virginia is survived by her four loving children: Robert (Barbara) of Coral Gables, FL, Ann Buscaglia of White Plains, NY, Keith (Lisa) of Summit, NJ, and Diane Penner (Jeff) of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.  She was blessed with nine adoring grandchildren: Michael, Sarah, Kerry, Cassidy, Connor, Kyle, Grace, Katelin and Emily.  She is also survived by her breakfast group who were treasured friends.

A memorial service to honor Virginia’s memory will be held at a later date.

In remembrance of Virginia’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
