Mary Ellen Margaret (Murphy) Muendell

Mrs. Mary Ellen Margaret Murphy Muendell passed away peacefully on March 23, 2020 at the side of loved ones. Mary Ellen was born to parents Janet Yosua and Joseph Murphy on March 13, 1932 in Bronx, New York. She was a proud sister to siblings Joseph Murphy Jr. (Florence), Janet Byman (Frank), and John Allen Murphy (Eileen). Mary Ellen married Arthur Muendell in 1963 and raised two beautiful children: Janet Bashford (Eric) of Briarcliff Manor and Edward Muendell (Karen) of Yorktown Heights. She was a loving grandmother to Sloane Bashford, Cole Bashford, Devon Muendell, Kyan Muendell, Kristen Drum, Kimberly Aucapina, and Danielle Lewandowski, and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen Margeret Murphy Muendell graduated high school from St. Francis Asissi in 1950 and went on to serve Westorchard Elementary School in the Chappaqua Central School District for 37 years until her retirement in 2009. She was honored as a devoted and delightful member of the school beloved by students and faculty. Mary Ellen was a resident of Millwood, New York from 1964 until 2008 when she moved to Scarborough Manor in Ossining, New York. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Saint Theresa’s Parish. Mary Ellen will be remembered for her love of those around her, especially her children and grandchildren. Her sense of humor never diminished and she never failed to provide joy to those around her. Her family feels blessed that she has lived a full 88 years filled with compassion, love, and peace. She will be loved and missed forever. All services will be private.
