We regretfully announce the passing of Linnea B. Carnes of Ossining, NY on October 7, 2021. Linnea passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Linnea was born in New Kensington, PA to John and Mildred Bartels. After graduating from Dickinson University in Carlisle, PA, Linnea moved to New York City and met her husband, Fred, at Marble Collegiate Church and immediately fell in love. They went on to be married for over 15 years and had a son together.
Linnea was passionate about her church, her family, and of course her cat, CC. Linnea was a dedicated, strong mother who went back to school for her Master’s Degree in Business Management at Mercy College. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Human Resources at the Ossining Union Free School District until her retirement in 2010. She enjoyed her work and was still friends with many of her former colleagues. Linnea spent much of her free time at Scarborough Presbyterian Church worshiping, volunteering on committees, and having fellowship together with her church family. Linnea dedicated much of her retirement years volunteering at Phelps Hospital. She did everything from running the gift shop, helping at the front desk, and even appearing in the background of an Adam Sandler movie. Her time working at the hospital meant everything to her and she spoke often of the friends she made while volunteering.
Linnea was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred in 1988. She leaves behind her dedicated son, John, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind countless extended family members in Pennsylvania whom she adored, especially the children.
Visitation will take place at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 4-8pm. Services will be held at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Scarborough Presbyterian Church or Phelps Hospital.
