John Lee Goodyear (Jack) 83, of Ossining, NY passed away on August 30th, 2020.
Jack was born on September 15th, 1936, to Willis Larue and Anna Rose Goodyear in Snowshoe, PA. He attended Villanova University on a full academic scholarship, while simultaneously working an almost full-time job.
After being high school sweethearts, Jack married his wife Rose on October 24, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA. They celebrated their 61st anniversary last year. She was his “Star Eyes” until the very end.
Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1961. Professionally, he worked for Provident Mutual and Alexander & Alexander, which was later bought by the AON corporation.
A golfing enthusiast and member of Sleepy Hollow and Shinnecock Hills, Jack was honored to play on some of the best courses in the world. He also enjoyed the strong friendships he had with other members.
Jack was devout in his Catholic faith. One of the ways he expressed his faith was carpentry – but if Jesus heard some of Jack’s language after a bad cut on the tablesaw, he may not have been too thrilled.
John is survived by his wife Rose, children John II, Jim, Judy, and Jeff, and 10 grandchildren.
Reposing, Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 PM and Wednesday 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. Funeral Mass, St. Theresa's Church on Wednesday 11 AM. Interment to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name can be made to Toys for Tots or MCLEF Scholarship Foundation. See links below.
