Daphney Belle Henry

Daphney Belle Henry of Ossining, NY went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2021.  Daphney was born on Dec 1, 1925 in St Mary Jamaica.  She emigrated with her late husband Seymour Henry and their eight children, Leroy Henry, Stedman Henry, June Laing, Arthens Bridgeforth, Margaret Henry Morris, Angella Henry, Winston Henry, and Jennifer Guthrie who predeceased her. She also leaves behind many Grand and Great Grandchildren, who she affectionately referred to as her Pride & Joy or her Beda (Goddess / Warrior Princess), and a long list of relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Daphney loved to sew, knit, cook and bake.  In the 70’s she would make Dashiki shirts and dresses for her friends. Her favorite pastime was throwing dinner parties for neighbors and her children’s teachers as she loved to dance and entertain. Most of all she loved staying busy. She retired from Briarcrest Nursing Home in the mid 80’s. She was loved by people of all ages. People flocked to her because of her uplifting spirits and she was so respected that people either addressed her as Miss Henry or Aunt Daphney.

Daphney loved the Lord and was always either humming or singing an old-time gospel song.  We know she is singing in Heaven this minute.  Sing on Daphney, sing on!  We will see you soon where we all will join you in a verse of How Great Thou Art.

Reposing, Calvary Baptist Church, 4 St. Paul’s Place Ossining, NY on Thursday from 10 AM-12 PM. Where services will be held at 12PM. Interment to follow at Dale Cemetery, Ossining, NY.
