Lola Gourdine

Lola Mae Carrington was born on November 18, 1929 to Jonas and Lola Jackson – Carrington in Orange New Jersey. During Lola’s formative years – Lola attended elementary school in Springfield New Jersey until she moved to Harlem New York. There she attended and graduated from the Textile High School in 1947. Later, Lola worked at the New York Telephone Company – as a long-distance operator for six (6) years. During this time Lola met and then fell in love -- with the love of her life Harry (Norman) – where they married and then she and relocated to Ossining New York. This union -- produced two children Denise and Norman (Michael.)  Lola, later became a homemaker to her family. Lola – during these years … loved sewing, listening to music, cooking and spending time with loved ones. Norman her beloved husband, unfortunately preceded Lola in death, on April 19, 2006 – Still further, her cherished daughter Denise passed away June 30, 2017. Left to mourn Lola is her precious son Michael and his partner Denise Trotter.  Her treasured grand-son Anthony Nixon and his wife Lakara, along with two sisters-in-law Yvonne Spencer, Jean Drumgold, her special friend Alfred Trotter, as well her nieces, nephews and a long list of friends. As a loving Mother and friend her memory will live on forever in our hearts and minds forever. Michael and Denise – would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words and deeds. We would like to take this time to give a special thanks to Tasha Matthias and Keyanna Barrett, and a host of other caretakers who so diligently cared for Lola. Reposing, Leach & Thomas Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Where funeral services will be held at 12 PM. Interment, Dale Cemetery, Ossining, NY to follow. In lieu of flowers donation to the Parkinsons Association would be appreciated.
