Joan A. Ford

Joan Ford, of Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully on January 14, 2019.  Joan was born to Mary and Michael Ford in the Bronx, New York on November 27, 1942.  She graduated from Aquinas High School and the Thorpe Business School.  In her career Joan worked for Westinghouse, R&G Affiliates, CBS Inc. and finally Yonkers Public Schools until her retirement.  Joan lived in the Bronx until 1976 when she relocated to Yonkers NY, where she lived until 2017 when she moved to the Cedar Manor Nursing home in Ossining.Joan is predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary and Brother-in-Law Jim, her brother Thomas and Sister-in-Law Carol.  She is survived by 5 nephews: James, Robert & Thomas Friedel and Michael & Tommy Ford, their spouses and 8 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew.Joan enjoyed travel, relaxing at her pool on DeHaven Drive, reading People magazine, and most of all spending time with her family.  “Aunt Joan” was the preferred baby-sitter for multiple generations of the Friedel family!   She was known for her smile, sense of humor, kindness and her love of chatting with friends.Reposing Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff Manor. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) will be deeply appreciated.
