Zorab Toutoundjian of Scarborough, NY, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2023, at the age of 95. He is survived by his loving wife Elva, their three beloved children Gregory (Beata), Carolyn Dienstag (Matthew) and Carla Cirillo (Michael), and their cherished grandchildren Marissa, Noelle, Rachel, Hannah, Michael, Jake, Christopher and Nicholas. He is predeceased by his parents Mihran and Miranoush, and his siblings Rosa and Zareh.
Born on December 14, 1927, in Aleppo, Syria, Zorab grew up in Tehran, Iran, and later emigrated to the United States, where he served proudly in the U.S. Army and graduated from NYU, where he met Elva, his wife of nearly 65 years.
Zorab loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed travel, languages, cooking, French music, working on his home, and talking about history and politics. Most of all, Zorab treasured his Armenian ancestry and his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Zorab’s life will be held at St. Theresa’s Church, 1394 Pleasantville Rd., Briarcliff Manor, on Friday, January 27th at 10:00 am, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, planting trees in Armenia, Zorab’s ancestral home, would honor his lifetime of giving (www.armeniatree.org)
