Michael J. Madden Jr.

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Michael J. Madden Jr., passed away unexpectantly from a heart attack at the age of 51, while gardening with his beloved dog Chelsea.

Michael was born on August 8, 1970, in Poughkeepsie, NY to Mike and Rosemary Madden. He received his BA in Political Science at Providence College and a JD at St. John’s University School of Law. Michael had an esteemed legal career with his last ten years as Partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth’s New York office.

Michael’s passions included watching college basketball and soccer, gardening, traveling, and manning the barbeque as the “grill master.” Yet, Michael’s greatest passion and love belonged to his family for whom he was a devoted father to his children, Elizabeth and Jack, and a loving husband to his wife Eileen. Both met at Providence College while studying abroad in London.

Michael is best remembered as a selfless, thoughtful, intelligent, witty, hardworking man who had an ability to see the humor in all aspects of life in a good hearted and caring way.

Michael is survived by his wife, Eileen; his children, Elizabeth and Jack; his parents, Mike and Rosemary; his sisters, Maryrose Sykes and Maureen Gahagan; his brothers-in-law, Brian Sykes, Kevin Gahagan, John Bauer and wife, Jessica. Michael is also survived by his mother-in-law, Margaret Bauer; his niece, Emily Gahagan; and his nephews, Christopher Sykes, Kevin Sykes, and Daniel Gahagan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7 at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home at 1300 Pleasantville Rd., Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510 between 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm -9:00pm.

A 10:00am Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 8 at Church of the Magdalene located at 525 Bedford Rd., Pocantico Hills, New York 10591.

Interment to be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located at 10 W. Stevens Ave. Hawthorne, NY 10532, following the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be sent to
