Marjorie "Midge" Hatzmann Obituary

Marjorie E. “Midge” Hatzmann, 95, passed away at the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, NY on February 2, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Midge was born in Valhalla, NY to Beatrice and George R. Harbort, Sr. She graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1945 and married her husband Alfred Hatzmann in 1948. She worked as a secretary, first in the law office of Malcolm Wilson who went on to become the Lt. Governor of New York, then in the public relations department of Ford Motor Co.  She left her job to raise her family in Ossining and was a devoted mother to her two daughters. When they were young, she was a class mom, a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday School teacher. Throughout her life she enjoyed a variety of activities from bridge to tennis to golf. She was a member of the Torview Swim Club and Club Fit even into her 80’s.  She served as a volunteer at Phelps Memorial Hospital for many years and was active in her church, All Saints Episcopal. Her greatest joy was being with her family and doting on her grandchildren.

Midge was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Alfred and her brother George “Bob”. She is survived by her daughters Wendy (Paul) Tarricone and Marjorie R. Hatzmann, her grandsons Michael and Peter and many nieces and nephews.
