Obituary

Joseph Charles Guariglia, 58, of New York, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, surrounded by his family at Bellevue Hospital, NY.

Joseph, fondly known as Joe, was born to Joseph Dominick Guariglia and Marie (Palmieri) Catalanotte on July 26, 1964. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he attended Canarsie High School. Joseph then went on to work in telecommunication sales. He started his career at MCI, Inc as a sales representative in Manhattan, NY. He was very passionate and dedicated when it came to his work, and he went on to have many successful business ventures in telecommunications.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Virginia, and their son, Luca. He is also survived by his children Marco, Diana, and Carla, and their mother, Annette Soares. As well, Joseph is survived by his mother, Marie, and sisters, Joanne, Andrea, Melissa, and Jill. Joseph was predeceased by his father, Joseph.

Everyone knew that Joseph loved life and embraced adventure. He took great pleasure in traveling and experiencing different cultures. Joseph had a discerning palette, eager to try new places or visit his favorite restaurant spots to indulge in a good meal. For a period of time, he lived in Italy and Brazil with his wife, Virginia, and their son Luca. Previously, he owned a beach house with his ex-wife, Annette, in Portugal where they would enjoy summers with their children Marco, Diana, and Carla.

Although Joseph loved to travel, he was a true New Yorker at heart. He loved cheering on the Yankees and the New York Giants, attending games whenever he could. Joseph would always be seen proudly wearing his Yankees baseball cap and ensured that his children had clothing that represented his favorite teams as well. With his love of sports came his love of playing golf. He would spend sunny days on the golf course with those close to him. He enjoyed being active, walking anywhere he could, and running marathons. Joseph lived big in every aspect of his life.

To know Joseph was to love Joseph, people embraced his company. He was very charismatic and generous. When he walked into a room, everyone noticed his bright smile and big dimples, his presence made people gravitate towards him. He valued the finer things in life. Joseph will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His legacy will live on through his four children that he loved and was very proud of.

We will always cherish the happy memories and look for signs of Joseph throughout our lives.
