John A. “Jay” Lockwood, Jr., age 55, died peacefully at Cavalry Hospital on June 11, 2023, surrounded by his wife and family after a hard-fought battle with Cancer.
Jay was born in Boston Massachusetts but spent many of his formative years growing up in Bridgewater, NJ. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Syracuse University with honors. After college, Jay embarked on an over 30-year career in the financial world. Jay began work at Nomura Securities as a mortgage-backed securities trader in the early 1990’s. This allowed him to live in the Cayman Islands, and Bermuda before settling back into New York City. Over the next few decades, Jay focused, worked diligently, and served companies such as Washington Mutual Bank, Citadel Securities, Annaly Capital Management, and Chimera Investment Corporation. Jay was most recently Director of Global Treasury for Columbia University.
Jay was known as a consummate gentleman, incredibly kind and always had a smile. Intelligent, confident, and worldly, yet always humble. Jay enjoyed the kitchen, was an excellent chef, and would often cook decadent holiday meals for the entire Lockwood family. Jay had an unrivaled sense of humor. He was filled with witty one-liners but will mostly be remembered for how proud he was of his children, Anni and John Patrick “JP”. Jay and his family resided in Briarcliff Manor, NY.
Jay is survived by his wife, Michelle “Micki”, their daughter, Anni and their son, JP. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law: Brian and Jeanne Lockwood of Greenwich, CT and Keith and Katherine Lockwood of New York, NY. Jay also leaves behind his father, John A. Lockwood of Lambertville, NJ. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Karmen Lockwood. Jay also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Max, and Lulu.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday June 19, 2023 from 10-11:30 am at the Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral Mass, Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills will be at 12 pm.
