John (Jacky) Louis Macey a long-time resident of Ossining, New York and recent resident of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2024 at the age of 100.
He was born in North Tarrytown on June 27, 1923, to Anna (Cibula) and Stephen Macey. He attended St. Theresa’s Grammar School and was a graduate of North Tarrytown High School.
He served in the U.S Navy in World War II from 1942 to 1945 as a Radioman Second Class. He received two bronze stars for his time in the Philippines and served onboard the M.S. Kota Inten (1945) troop carrier. He also served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952.
He married Elizabeth (Lizzy) Williams of Ossining on May 25th, 1952 in St. Augustine’s Church, who predeceased him in 2006.
John (Jacky) loved golf and caddied for many years at Pines Bridge (Hudson Hills), Golf Club. He also loved to bowl, where he was in multiple leagues into his late 70’s. He loved to watch various sports on the television and the Mets and Jets were his favorite teams.
He was employed as an Inventory Control Manager with Duracell formerly P.R. Mallory in North Tarrytown for 35 years. He later worked for Inter-Technical Group of Elmsford, New York until his retirement in 2010.
He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Ossining and an usher into his 90’s.
John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Frank Palmietto of Melbourne Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lizzy, parents Stephen and Anna Cibula Macey, his brothers Rudy, Stephen and Frank Macey, his sister Adele Macey and Helen Macey Diminescu.
