Blanche Worthy

Blanche Worthy passed away October 27, 2021, at her home. She was 93 years old. Blanche was born February 13, 1928, to Maybelle Morrison in Savannah, GA. After graduating high school, she moved from Georgia to New York. Shortly after arriving in New York, Blanche met and married Kadoza “Woody” Worthy on September 12, 1948, and they remained married for 70 years, until Kadoza’s passing in 2018.

Kadoza and Blanche moved to Ossining, NY in 1962 and they were both active members of the Ossining community, through membership at First Baptist Church, The Cooperative Scholarship Fund of Ossining, NAACP and other local organizations. Blanche was a trained seamstress and later attended business school to become a secretary. She was the “original Martha Stewart” designing and crafting clothing for her children, ball gowns for ladies, reupholstering furniture and curtains for the home, cooking amazing meals all while raising 4 children.  Once her children were in school full time, she worked as a secretary for various companies in Westchester and Manhattan. Her last position before her retirement was at Maryknoll.

Blanche leaves behind her sons, Mark and Steven, daughters, Patricia and Lori and two grandsons, Matthew and Micah Benson, as well as many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.

Blanche Worthy will be forever remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She will be truly missed.

A Memorial Service celebrating Blanche’s life will be held on November 6, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, 1 Church Street, Ossining, NY at 11:00 am.
