Stanley Carney, a lifelong resident of Ossining, passed away on
December 8, 2011 at age 86. He attended Ossining schools and was an
assistant manager at the A&P Store. After a 3 year stint in the U. S.
Navy, Stan worked at Hudson Wire in Ossining and then for the Ossining
School System retiring at age 84 in 2010. As a custodian at Park
School for 39 years, Stan was loved by the children, the teachers and
co-workers. And he loved them, a father figure to many. A source of
great pride was the escorting of a teacher down the aisle and giving
her away in the marriage ceremony. A faithful congregant, Stan was an
usher at Living Word Christian Church in White Plains where he served
joyfully. He was greatly loved and looked up to by the younger
generations. An avid fisherman, he could be found out on the water at
Cross River or on the Sound in Mamaroneck with his beloved friends, the
Santoro family. Rest in peace, dear friend. Stan will be remembered
for his loving heart, his 'not a lazy bone in his body' work ethic, and
his buoyant personality. Stan is survived by his sister, Mary Tryon
(George), nieces and nephew. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph
and Pearl Purdy Carney, two brothers, Joseph and Ralph, and a sister,
Ethel Ecke. Reposing at the Ossining Funeral Home on Monday, December
12, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A celebration of Stan's life will
take place on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11 AM, Living Word
Christian Church, 1236 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY. Interment to
follow Dale Cemetery, Ossining, NY.
