It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic and sudden passing of Sophie Yanazzo, 69, on November 10,2020. Sophie was born on April 12, 1951 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to Paul and Mary Pisarik. Sophie was the youngest child of Paul and Mary and was predeceased by her brothers Paul and Walter and sister Barbara Andreas. She is survived by her brother Michael Pisarik. Sophie met the love of life Joseph C Yanazzo, working at Bendiner and Schlesinger laboratory and they were married on October 13th, 1973 and spent 47 wonderful years together. They were blessed with three children; Dawn Brandt (Matthew), Christine Yanazzo (Erik Jones) and Joseph Yanazzo and four loving grandchildren; Emily and Alexandria Brandt and Ryan and Eric Yanazzo. Sophie was a devoted wife and mother and when her children were older she started working at Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers in Ossining, NY, retiring in 2016 to spend time with and dote on her grandchildren. Sophie loved cooking and baking and lived for the holidays where she could spoil her grandchildren with treats and presents. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will remain forever cherished in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 pm on Friday, November 13th at Waterbury and Kelly funeral home in Briarcliff, NY. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 10 am at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff, NY. Entombment will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
