Ruth (Martinson) Dougherty, 84, of Ossining passed away peacefully October 9, 2019, in Sleepy Hollow, NY. A memorial service will be held at Leach and Thomas Funeral home in Ossining on Friday, October 25 at 10 am.  Reverend John Stetson of New Paltz, Church of the Nazerene officiating. Ruth was born in Irvington, NY to John and Edna Mae Martinson on March 17, 1935.  She, with her young family later moved to Ossining NY.  She was a homemaker.  After her 4 children were grown she worked as a home health aide with The Visiting Nurses.  She was an avid reader, she enjoyed politics and lively discussions, and she loved to sing.  She had a strong spiritual life and an unwavering faith in God. Ruth is preceded by her parents and her husband William, they were married for almost 60 years.  She is also preceded by her brother John. Ruth is survived by her brother David and her 4 children; Linda, Robert, William and David.  As well as her 4 grandchildren;  River, Sage, Kellan and Drake. She was a lighthouse to all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
