Rosa (83), like a rose, was sometimes happy and sometimes sad. She was delicate and fragile but had eyes that would pierce through you.  When you experienced that gaze it was time to chat and discover what an amazing woman she was who had so much to say.  She genuinely wanted to hear your responses to her questions as like a little girl, every answer fulfilled her curiosity.  Her childhood stories were amazing and she always expressed her love for her native island. She was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico on November 9th 1938, to Juan Lopez and Fortuna Velez.  She married Korean War Veteran Manuel Berrios in the Lower East side of Manhattan who then passed in 1981.  She is survived by her 3 children; Manuel DeJesus, Rose Marie, and Jesusa, her 4 grandchildren; Suzette, Jason, Brian, and Yeselyn, and 5 great grandchildren; Alana, Isabella, Amaya, Austin, and Nathan.  Rosa loved Jesus as her savior, her faith in God and love for her family was undeniable. Reposing, Leach & Thomas Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM. Interment, Calverton National Cemetery to follow.
