Nellie Amoroso Arnone was born on April 21, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, to Italian immigrants, Maria Mistretta Amoroso and Mario Amoroso, a longshoreman.  She grew up in Brooklyn Heights with her parents and five siblings: Mary, Pauline, Andy, Tony and Manny. After high school, she worked for Electrolux in Manhattan and as the Payroll Director of Maimonides Hospital. In 1964, she married Ciro Aldo Arnone who immigrated from Sicily and raised her family in Long Island where she worked in the library of Adelphi University.  Nellie loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed hosting dinner parties, was a cooking enthusiast and dabbled in ceramic arts and sewing. Nellie Arnone is survived by her husband of 57 years, her children, Dr. Maria Arnone, Roberta Arnone and Dr. Robert Arnone, her brother, Emmanuel Amoroso and her grandchildren: Christina Arroyo, Juliana Arroyo, Christopher Arroyo, Marc Arroyo, Mia Arnone, Max Arnone, Sophia Arnone and Ciro Arnone. In lieu of flowers, mourners are encouraged to donate to colon cancer research in her name. Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 16, 2021 at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home of Briarcliff Manor, NY at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
