Marcia C. Seredynski (nee McNeary) died March 13, 2025, as she lived, surrounded by family and friends. She was 80 years old.

A proud native of Brooklyn, NY, She was born on July 25, 1944 to John and Catherine (Lemon) McNeary. She attended Our Lady Help of Christians School, St. Saviour High School, Mount Saint Vincent University, St John's University, and St. Joseph's Seminary.

She joined the Sisters of Charity in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1962. And though she rejoined the laity, she remained a life-long (if occasionally defiant) Catholic and loved the Church.

She dedicated her professional life to education. She taught religion and history at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, NY, The Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, Japan. She served ten years on the Briarcliff Manor Board of Education, and in retirement, was a substitute teacher and tutor.

But her real passion was, simply, other people. Marcia embodied the concept of "imago Dei," that everyone is created in the image of God.

An active member of her community, and a regular at every store in town, she cared deeply for her students, coworkers, friends, children's friends, neighbors, waiters, busboys, deli workers, and anyone else she came to know. Always a talker, she delighted in sharing their stories, with only occasional embellishment.

Most of all Marcia loved her family - especially her grandchildren - and her extensive network of close friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Peter; children Catherine (Paul) Kansler, Patricia (Patrick) McGrath, Billy (Kristen) and Johnathan (Jillian); grandchildren Liam, Kiera, Eleanor, Grace, Brendan, Billy, Emmy, Andie, Charles, Lila and Caroline; Brother Allen McNeary; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, quasi-relatives, and friends who felt like relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patricia Keenan, brother Brian McNeary, and her first husband, William Barber.

Visitation will be held at Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home in Briarcliff Manor, NY from 4pm to 8pm on St. Patrick's Day, Monday March 17 (which she would have loved), and a mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine's Church in Ossining, New York on March 18 at 9:30 am with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or a charity of your choice.
