IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mamie
Washington
January 18, 1928 – February 22, 2025
Mamie Lee Washington was born of January 18th, 1928 and entered her eternal rest on February 22nd, 2025. She passed peacefully at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Prospect, Virginia to Meriet and Nora Walker Mamie was beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and "Aunt Mamie" to all.
As a young woman, Mamie met and married Alfred Washington. Out of their union they had a son Alfred Jr., and daughters Donna (Pooh), Cynthia (Dooley), and Edith (Baby) Washington. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and her love for them was boundless. Mamie's warmth, compassion, and strong spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Mamie later moved to Ossining, NY with her family where she worked at the Sheraton Hotel for many years. Mamie took pride in her appearance and always stepped out with her best foot forward. She played a major role in the lives of all that were around her. Always there to provide a word of wisdom and a witty remark to lighten the mood. She later retired to care for her family and six grandchildren.
Mamie enjoyed going to church and having a good time. Singing and dancing always brought a smile to her face. The party didn't start until she got there. Mamie could always be caught wearing red nail polish, red lip stick and always had her hair done. She also loved to get a good deal and going shopping especially at a nice thrift shop.
Mamie was the remaining member of her family legacy and she will truly be missed by all. She leaves us to join her sisters Gladys Walker, Ola Matthews, Hallie Walker, Alice Patterson, Edith Johnson (twin), and her brothers Hayes, Edward, and Alexander Walker. She also joins her two predeceased daughters Donna and Cynthia Washington.
Mamie is survived by her loving daughter Edith Washington of Ossining, son Alfred Washington of Virginia, six grandchildren Lattoria, Emanuel, Jamar, Richard, Jasmine Cherry, Tiara Jones, three great grandchildren Messiah and Kamiya McCallop, Cairo Don Newton, a host of nieces, nephews and friends
Mamie always said "I am taking the story with me."
