IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen M.
(Fox) Bernson
January 31, 1942 – October 23, 2016
No one thought it would ever happen, but on October 23rd 2016, Karen Bernson left this world and kept right on going. Everyone knew where she was headed. A wide rainbow marked her path, as she rose from the roof to the clouds and beyond. In life, it often seemed that she was everywhere at once, and now she must be. Her ascent has been confirmed by the loves of her life: Haskell Bernson, her husband of 49 years. Also, her sons Jonathan Bernson (Jennifer Welch), Jeffrey Bernson (Meg McNulty), her grandchildren Sam, Miles and Phineas, as well as her brother Richard Fox. Surrounding them were countless family and friends, who found themselves without the words to express their loss. At 74, her heart had stopped, but she had never grown old. Karen was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and raised her family in Briarcliff Manor and Ossining, New York, where she worked as a realtor. It was not unusual for clients to experience her unrelenting generosity and become lifelong friends. Renowned for her elaborate creations, her knitting and beadwork will be treasured for years to come. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Teatown Lake Reservation, where she loved to walk, talk and reflect. Karen's memory will celebrated at Waterbury & Kelly in Briarcliff Manor on Sunday 10/30 at 1 pm. Please bring a story to share, or email your recollections to karenmeredithbernson@gmail.com.
