Joseph A. McGuire "Big Joe", of Verplanck,NY, died peacefully at home on January 29, 2019. Joe was born in Verplanck on October 14, 1934 to John and Jane (Mitchell) McGuire. Joe worked for the Town of Cortlandt Water Department and he later retired from the Laborer's Union Local#235. He was an avid fisherman. Joe served as the Chairmen of the Verplanck Board of Fire Commissioners and also served two terms as the Chief of the Verplanck Fire Department. Joe was a Charter Member of the Westchester County Judges Association. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Catherine, son, Joseph (Dina), grandchildren, William, Jason and James, great grandchildren, Madison, Joseph, McKenzie, William, Nicholas, Memphis and Hudson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Frances and 7 of his siblings. Reposing on Friday, February 01, 2019 from 3-8 PM at the Verplanck Fire Department, 238 8th Street, Verplanck,NY 10596. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Patrick's Church, Verplanck, NY. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck,NY.
