Janet Kennedy Lindgren of Briarcliff Manor, NY passed away at home with her loving family at her side on Sunday, August 21, 2016.  She was 81 years old.Janet was born on June 18, 1935 in New York City to the late Dr. John and Catherine Kennedy.  She was raised in Briarcliff Manor, attended Mary Immaculate High School, and received a Bachelors Degree from Good Counsel College and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from SUNY New Paltz.  She taught kindergarten at Frank G. Lindsey School in Montrose and was a substitute teacher at several schools including Croton-Harmon High School. Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She was always supportive of her children's activities, and in more recent years adored watching her beloved granddaughters grow and flourish.  She loved all animals and was an accomplished horseback rider.  Janet enjoyed walking her dogs on the beautiful Rockefeller carriage paths where she had often ridden horses.Janet is survived by her son Don and his wife Samantha; daughter Catherine and her husband Fred Flores; granddaughters, Emma and Maya Flores; sister, Jean Kennedy; brother-in-law, Robert Lindgren; sister-in-law, Mary Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.Her husband of 53 years, Donald Carl Lindgren, and her brother, John J. Kennedy, III, predeceased her.A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10 am at St. Theresa Church in Briarcliff Manor, NY.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home in Briarcliff Manor.  Donations in Janet's memory may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094, or a charity of the donor's choice.
