James Whalen 76, of Ossining, NY passed away on March 14, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born in Auburn, NY, Jim graduated from high school and enlisted in the Army. He was sent to the Philippines and had an honorable discharge. Jim later relocated to Ossining, NY to work as a NYS parole officer at Sing Sing Prison. He met his wife Mary Sellazzo-Whalen while stationed in Ossining. He leaves behind his daughter, Bridget, son-in-law, Daniel and grandchildren Claire and Christopher James. He also leaves behind his nephews Bernie, Frank, Mike and Tavis Whalen amongst numerous loved ones. Jim was an avid runner, member of Taconic Road Runners and ran numerous marathons, including the Dublin, Boston and New York City Marathons. Reposing, Leach & Thomas Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-9 PM. Funeral Mass, St. Augustine Church, Ossining, NY on Wednesday 10 AM. Interment, St. Augustine Cemetery, Ossining, NY to follow.
