Obituary

Herbert M Ruppenstein passed away peacefully on Saturday July 16, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by his two sons and daughters in law, six grandchildren and loved ones. He was 73 years old.Born in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York on February 4, 1943. Herbert served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army. He later went on to a successful career on Wall Street. Working his way up to Specialist and Member of the New York Stock Exchange and Partner in the firm of Murphey, Marseilles, Smith and Nammack. The firm was acquired by Quick and Reilly in 1994. Herbert retired in 2000 shortly after celebrating 25 years as a Member of the NYSE.Throughout his life and into retirement his passions were his family, skiing, golf and hockey. He enjoyed trips with his family and friends and was a long time member of Salem Golf Club in South Salem, NY. His greatest love was for his six grandchildren. He was a fixture at his grandchildren's school events, sports and activities where he was affectionately known as "Grandpa Herb." He was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann Marie who passed away in November of 1992 and who he will be happy to be reunited with in Heaven. He is survived by his son Christian and his wife Megan of Darien, Connecticut and his son Marc and his wife Meghan of Ridgefield, Connecticut. Along with his 5 grandsons, Teddy, Colin, Morgan, Griffin and Clayton and his special granddaughter Paige. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Brzozowski of Poughquag, New York.
