After a day of doing what he loved best, hiking, then discussing the virtues of craft beer with friends, George William Davitt of Briarcliff Manor left this earth unexpectedly on Sunday, June 5th, 2022. He is survived by his best friend and soulmate of more than twenty years Deborah Gargiulo, his beloved dog Dakota and his siblings Holly, Leo, John, James, Paul, Louise, Peter, Andrew and Christina.

Born June 8, 1965, to Andrew Martin Davitt and Georgina Ann Grudis. He grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey was active in the Boy Scouts of America and earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army. George served six years of distinguished service to his country as a Specialist Four, in the 4th Support Battalion- 8th Infantry division, in Germany for half of his time. In 1985, he was awarded the Army Achievement medal for exceptional meritorious service.  Next, George followed in the footsteps of his father and graduated from the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

George had a long and successful career in finance.  Working for Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen and others. His most recent position was as VP Planning at Footlocker Inc, for the past 25 years.

George was the consummate gentleman and will be remembered as a loving husband, an amazing brother, loyal friend and dedicated worker. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues. He enjoyed the outdoors, country music, food, craft beer, travel, his many dogs over the years, spending time with friends and family and just making people laugh.

His life will be celebrated on Thursday June 9th at Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home, in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Visitation will be from 4pm- 8 pm. A prayer will be held at 9:30 on Friday June 10th at Waterbury and Kelly followed by a service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery- Hawthorne; Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at 10:30am.
