Obituary

Frank Anthony Calabrese "Sonny" passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 29th at The New York States Veterans Home in Montrose, New York.Frank was born in Mount Vernon, New York in 1922 to Emily Liebelt and Frank Calabrese. Frank graduated from Edison High School in 1940 and worked at Sikorsky Helicopter in Stratford, CT. until 1942. When the call of duty came in 1942 Frank enlisted in the U.S. Naval Service-Coast Guard. During World War II Frank served active duty as an Electrician's Mate, First Class in the Pacific aboard the USS LST 67. Frank received the American Area Campaign Medal, Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal with three bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars. Frank was Honorably Discharged on his birthday in1946. Frank returned to Mount Vernon and joined The New York Telephone Company with the skills he mastered in the Coast Guard and married Josephine Pisani the love of his life in 1950. Frank and Josephine were happily married for 65 long and loving years and lived in Ossining, New York for the past 53 years.Frank is survived by his loving spouse Josephine Calabrese, daughter Linda and her husband Brian and their son Frank, son Frank and his wife Deborah and their children, Frank, Kristyn, Kayla , Anthony and daughter Lori and her husband Pete and their children Julie, Kellie and Megan.He is survived by his brother Dan Calabrese and pre-deceased by loving sisters, Martha, Eleanor, Matilda and Charlotte. There are also countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he left his caring, giving and loving mark on.Frank gave everything he had every day of his life.
