Elizabeth "Betsy" O'Leary of Briarcliff Manor, passed away peacefully June 22nd, 2024 at the age of 74. She was born February 8th, 1950 to Dr. Thomas and Irene (Wilson) Baker, in Yonkers, NY and was the niece of former New York Governor, Charles Malcolm Wilson. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory High School and Pace University where she majored in History.
She lived a joyful, vibrant life and was known for her sparkling personality, iconic style, humor, and wit. She spent many years volunteering as a member of the Briarcliff Historical Society and was a longtime member of Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, NY where she loved to play tennis, golf and spend time with family and friends.
Betsy will be remembered as being a loyal friend, a warm and generous hostess, for her passion for singing and dancing, and for her love and devotion to her family. She had a true zest for life and her vivacious spirit brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and has left behind a legacy of elegance, kindness and strength.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her son John Philip.
She is survived by husband of 50 years, John O'Leary, her daughters Elizabeth (Erik) Froese and Meredith (Hongzhe) Sun, her grandchildren, John Philip, Charles, and Ava, as well as her seven siblings, Thomas (Patricia) Baker, Mary Anne Westfall, Kevin (Kathleen) Baker, Catherine (Thomas) Burns, Suzanne Howard, Barbara (Paul) Gaffuri, Charles (Jeanne) Baker, and her many nieces and nephews.
Betsy's strength and bravery till the end will continue to inspire us. To honor her wonderful life, visitations will be held at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home, 1300 Pleasantville Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY on Wednesday, June 26th and Thursday June 27th from 4-8pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Church, 381 N Highland Ave, Ossining, NY at 10am Friday, June 28th. We invite family and friends to celebrate Betsy's life by attending the service in your most stylish and elegant attire, honoring her extraordinary love of fashion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betsy's name to the American Cancer Society.
