Obituary

Edgar Paul Campbell, loving companion, beloved father and esteemed attorney passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, at the age of 91, in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Known affectionately as Ed, he was born on August 5, 1933, in Greenlawn, New York.  Ed grew into a masterful trial attorney, renowned for his preparation and doggedness as well as his kindness, generosity, and ever-present smile.

After leaving Long Island in the early 1940's, his journey took him to the small town of High Falls, New York, where he attended elementary and middle school in a one room schoolhouse. He graduated from Kingston High School and then attended Fordham University where he was a lead member of the debate team. Ed served this nation as a Lieutenant in the Army, a period marked by dedication and honor, reflecting his strong commitment to his country. He attended New York Law School, setting the stage for a distinguished legal career. After starting the practice of law in Yonkers, New York, he started honing his trial skills in the late 1960's. Ed became resident attorney for Campbell, Cunion, O'Connor & Carlucci until the late 1980s. He then established and led the Campbell Law Offices in Valhalla, New York.

Ed's personal life was rich with love and joy. He is survived by his partner Joanne Whalen, Patricia Campbell, his children Mark Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Kathleen Campbell, Susan Campbell, and his cherished grandchildren Dylan, Jamaica, Alexander, Derek, Kaitlin, Brennan, MacKenzie, Keenan, Christian, Alexa, Montgomery, Andersen, Kittredge and nieces Kirsten, Brigitte, Erin and Kendra.

Ed loved sports, was an avid golfer and angler. A passionate poet and beekeeper, he found joy in the natural world. He had a beautiful singing and speaking voice and reveled in his ability to play the harmonica. Ed had a keen love of real estate and cherished his farm where he often enjoyed returning to his roots in upstate New York. A man of faith, Ed was a former congregant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Scarsdale, New York, and Saint Augustine's in Ossining, New York, where he was deeply involved in the community.

The family will be assisted by Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home, located at 1300 Pleasantville Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510. Funeral Services will be held at Saint Augustine's Church 381 North Highland, Ave, Ossining, New York 10562.
