Obituary

Ann Elizabeth Marron Hofstedt, 90, longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor and loving wife and devoted mother of five, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2026. A Tarrytown native and former first grade teacher, Ann married her high school sweetheart, Peter D. Hofstedt, at Transfiguration Church, in 1958. Ann was born on July 29, 1935, in Bronx, NY, to Francis and Florence (née Fahey) Marron. She attended Washington Irving High School in Tarrytown, NY, serving as senior class secretary, president of the drama club, and a cheerleader. She attended Marymount College in Tarrytown and upon graduation became a first grade teacher at Brookside School in Ossining. After Peter's graduation from the US Naval Academy in 1958, the two traveled extensively and lived for three wonderful years in Bermuda. They shared 52 beautiful years together, welcoming five cherished children, 13 adored grandchildren, and three precious great grandchildren. Ann loved reading, Notre Dame football, theater, politics, and watching Jeopardy. Ann is survived by her children Chris and Christine Hofstedt from Larchmont, NY, and their children Margaret, Peter, and Natalie; Doug and Denise Hofstedt of Severna Park, MD, and their children Clare and Sam Needles, Michael, and Patrick; Elizabeth Hofstedt Ronan of Briarcliff Manor, NY, and her children Robert and Lindsay Ronan (and their children Connor and Sarah), and Brian and Kym Ronan (and their child Charlotte); Matt and Ariane Hofstedt of Annapolis, MD, and their children Anderson and Quinten; and Jennifer and Dan Krehnbrink of Milton, GA, and their children, Finn, Aidan, and Kaitie. She was predeceased by her husband Peter and her sister Kathleen. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Friday, June 12th from 6 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 13th at 10 AM at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff. A burial will take place at the family gravesite at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, Inc., of Maryknoll, NY.
