Paul Bolduc

Paul Bolduc, a long-time resident of Briarcliff Manor, NY, died in Phelps Memorial Hospital on April 29, 2017 at the age of 92.  He had been gravely ill and in the hospital for several weeks after a bad fall.  His daughters Louise and Johanne were at his side during his final days, which gave him great comfort. Paul was born in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, Canada to Alexandre and Eugéné (née Badeau) Bolduc on May 17, 1924.  He received his Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from l'Institut Des Arts Appliqués in Montreal in 1950. Following graduation, he worked in Quebec City and Labrador, and later settled in New York in 1957.  There he met a fellow French-Canadian native, Rita Savard, at a party held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Valentine's Day, 1957. Rita and Paul married on October 6, 1958. They moved to Briarcliff Manor in 1972, and retired to Bethel Springvale Inn in Croton-on-Hudson, NY in 2011. Paul loved forests and nature, was a devoted husband and father, was a conscientious conservationist, and a talented interior designer and craftsman.  He deeply appreciated attention to detail and pride of craftsmanship, and loved reading about history and recounting stories of his personal experiences.  When he wasn’t building or improving something, he loved playing Sudoku or enjoying a glass of fine wine. Paul is survived by daughters Louise of Briarcliff Manor and Johanne (Peter) of Arlington, VA; brother Jean-François of Sherbrooke, Quebec; grandchildren Ethan and Gwyneth (San Francisco, CA); and several nieces and nephews and other members of the extended family.  He was preceded in death by his wife Rita and sister Thérèse. The family will receive visitors at the Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home of Briarcliff Manor on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. The Mass for Christian Burial will take place at St. Augustin’s Church (Ossining) at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, May 6, 2017, followed by interment at the archdiocesan Gate of Heaven Cemetery (Hawthorne). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Arbor Day Foundation (arborday.org).
