Louis A. Tricomi, 99, of Hawthorne, New York passed away peacefully at home on March 6, surrounded by family beside him in his last moments, as they were throughout his life. Gathered were his wife, of 76 years, Nancy, son Joseph (Marilyn) Tricomi, daughter Lucille and husband Dennis Capossela, step-grandson, Darren “The Man”, granddaughters Jennifer Tricomi, Nancy (Mark) Tortoriello and great-grandson Joseph Tricomi.
Born in Italian East Harlem in 1925 to Giuseppe and Rosa (Masiello) Tricomi, this mischievous young man was raised with his four sisters Mae (Aceto), Rose (Vena) both deceased, Bertha (Gaetano) and Concetta (Pesco). They remained close throughout the years as did their children; and all his beloved and numerous nieces and nephews of which he adored.
He was also blessed with the love of Dan, Emily and Daniel Capossela.
Louis proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Army during World War II and upon his discharge married Nancy to begin the first of three generations that he would assist in raising. Grateful for plentiful work and success the couple left the city behind and moved their young family to Mount Vernon in the late 1950s and then to Mount Pleasant in 1980 where they have resided since. Here Louis was instrumental in helping to raise his two granddaughters and later a significant and valued part in raising his great-grandson and best buddy, Joe. Each generation experienced him differently and yet the same.
Throughout each of his years Louis loved to laugh and share the lighter side of life. He worked tirelessly throughout the years in the replacement door and window business. For many years he worked side by side with his nephew Daniel Pesco at DAP Windows. At home he always had a creative solution to fix something that was or was not broken. His silliness and sense of humor won over the hearts of many, and his love of music and his favorite dance partner persisted until his final days.
His giant personality in his 5’3” frame earned him so many names around town. Lovingly known as Little Louie, Louie Windows, Dad, Uncle Louie, Grandpa and by far his favorite Papa Lulu are all the reflections of the affections this jokester had and the roles he has played throughout his lifetime.
We are grateful and honored for the life he has given his family and treasure the 99 years of stories, moments, and memories of and with him.
We thank our family, friends, community and colleagues for the generosity and thoughtfulness granted to each of us at this time. It is a testament of your love of Louis and his place in each of our lives.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Louis’s name to Hospice of Westchester, 1025 Westchester Avenue, Suite 200 White Plains, NY 10604 would be appreciated.
