Louis Zilay

In loving memory of Louis Francis Zilay

Born November 4, 1940 to Mae and Louis Zilay, he grew up in Brooklyn through his high school graduation.  Always a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Lou had the chance to play minor league baseball, but decided to start his career instead.  He worked in the gas department at Con Edison, Eastview as a mechanic and foreman for most of his career, until retiring after 36 years in 2000.

He and wife Cathy were married July 2, 1977.  Lou is survived by his wife and seven step children – Jennifer Mummert Grant, Melville Mummert, Catherine Mummert Mount, Christine Mummert Lewis, Anthony Taggart, Sharon Taggart Verardo and Thomas Taggart III, and 14 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Magdalene in Tarrytown NY on November 14 at 10am.  In lieu of flowers, send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
