Jerome P. Morrissy, resident of Ossining, formerly of Briarcliff Manor, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, March 27, next to his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Morrissy.A man of profound faith, he was a remarkably charitable person.  He advocated for the underprivileged and under-represented in his local and greater community, dedicating countless hours of time, creativity, and wisdom to those in need.  Through his many works, he changed the quality of people’s lives and set an extraordinary example for inspiring generosity of spirit.  The scope of his giving was matched only by his modesty and humility.  His Irish wit and warmth touched the hearts of all who knew him.  Above all else, he was a loving father and a most adoring husband to the love of his life, Mary Lou.Born to Loretta and Emmett Morrissy on November 22, 1933, Jerry was raised in River Forest, Illinois with his four siblings, James, John, Jeanne, and Joanne.  He attended Fenwick High School and the prestigious Fournier Engineering School on a scholarship, and graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Loyola University.  He enjoyed a distinguished marketing career for 35 years at General Foods in White Plains and, following an early retirement, Jerry devoted himself to community service.Among his many efforts, he served as a volunteer for Phelp’s Hospice program for nearly three decades, was a Board and Development Committee Member of the Ossining Children’s Center, and served on the Board of Trustees for the Village of Briarcliff Manor.  He was an integral member of St. Theresa’s Parish, having served in many roles, including financial advisor and Eucharistic Minister for the Church.He is survived by four children, Mary Claire, Jennifer Ann, Thomas Aquinas (wife Trisha Morrissy), and Patricia Jane (husband Jeffrey Sperber), and was predeceased by two children, William James in 1974 and Cynthia Marie in 2007.  He is survived by seven grandchildren:  Stephen (36) (and wife Julie), Matthew (29), Emmett (21), Liam (19), Kelly (17), Kevin (14), and Josef (Jerome) (15), and two great-grandchildren, Jameson (3) and Hudson (Jerome) Kurtz (1) as well as numerous beloved in-laws, nephews and nieces.Reposing at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home, 1300 Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor on Thursday, March 30th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 31st at 10am at St. Theresa’s Church, 1394 Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor.Internment St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Ossining, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ossining Children’s Center, 90 South Highland Avenue, Ossining, NY 10562, www.ossiningchildrenscenter.org, 914-941-0230.                        WATERBURY&KELLY FUNERAL HOME
